Barron Tapped as Red Mango's Chief to Grow Chain

Dallas-based Red Mango, operator and franchisor of more than 130 frozen yogurt and smoothie shops in the United States, has hired Barry M. Barron, Sr. as its chief executive.

Barron, a restaurant and retail industry veteran, spent 10 years at Pizza Hut. Additionally, he has been been the chief operator officer of the ACE Cash Express chain most recently, growing the brand from 700 to 1,800 locations.

He will assume the helm of Red Mango from Founder Dan Kim, who has had stints at well-known banking, Internet and media companies, before launching Red Mango in 2007. Kim will continue as chief concept officer, heading up social media, marketing and product innovation aspects for the quick serve frozen yogurt chain.

"We strongly endorse Barry's appointment," said Fouad Bashour, Red Mango director, and partner and chief financial officer with CIC Partners, a private equity firm in Dallas that controls the brand, and has investments in 40 other middle market companies.

Barron says he that the fundamentals of concept differentiation are in place at Red Mango, and now is the time to "accelerate" growing the brand, both domestically and internationally.

"CIC Partners has enjoyed a long history with Barry. He was instrumental in growing the ACE brand and creating value for its shareholders and we look forward to similar results from Red Mango," added Bashour.
