New Boston Food Truck Spots to Speed Local Hype Starting July 13

According to the City of Boston Redevelopment Authority, Mayor Menino expanded the new food truck vending initiative with 15 permanent locations in several neighborhoods.

The Mayor's office, working in collaboration with the City Council and Councilor Mike Ross, who spearheaded the movement, identified a specific and comprehensive plan to create a more permissive environment, and to streamline the application process for vendors. Starting July 13, food trucks will be rotated between the sanctioned sites. Unlike many cities, Boston has earmarked specific locations for mobile food operation commerce.

These food truck spots are located in the following areas of Boston: Back Bay, Bay Village, South End, Fenway, Kenmore/BU, Dorchester, Boston Marine Industrial Park/South Boston Waterfront, and the Charlestown Navy Yard.

“I’m excited that we have been able to designate permanent spots on city streets for new food truck vendors,” Mayor Menino said. “Food trucks are a fun, fresh way for people to enjoy a variety of food, much of it healthy and locally produced.”

In the new spots, these 15 food trucks operators will start at 6AM, and will close between 9PM and 11PM, depending on location:
