Papa John’s Pizza Scores a Multi-Year NFL Deal for Canada, Mexico, United Kingdo

Papa John's signed a multi-year agreement to be the sponsor of  the National Football League in Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Papa John's ties to the NFL are deep. The Louisville, Ky.-based pizza chain already sponsors 14 NFL teams, including the New York Giants, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins.

In Canada and Mexico, the NFL is building a following through the scheduling of regular season games, according to Papa John's. The deal will give a boost to the 53 franchised restaurants in Canada, 49 in Mexico, and the 167 company- and franchise-owned restaurants in the United Kingdom.

"Papa John’s, our franchises and our customers in the United States have benefitted greatly from our sponsorship of the NFL, and we’re confident that expanding our official sponsor status to include Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom will score big for our brand and customers in those countries," says Andrew Varga, Papa John’s chief marketing officer.

In 2010, Papa John's landed a deal for the sponsorship of Super Bowls XLV, XLVI and XLVI with exclusivity attributes for delivery and carryout pizza brands. The new international NFL sponsorship is in effect, and adds exclusive rights to use NFL and team trademarks and logos in Papa John's marketing.

In the United Kingdom, the NFL continues to grow, having scheduled a game Oct. 23 in London (Chicago and Tampa Bay play) and adding regular games from 2012 to 2016.
