Quick Serve Arby's Launches New Kid's Meal Program, Supports No Kid Hungry

Arby's Restaurants will launch a new Kid's Meal October 3. The company said that its new standard kid's meal will reduce calories by approximately 40 percent and fat by an estimated 70 percent, compared to the Atlanta-based chain's previous Kids Meal offerings.

Through a partnership with Share Our Strength and in conjunction with its non-profit Arby's Foundation, the 3,600-unit restaurant chain is also pledging an effort to end childhood hunger in the United States in the next four years.

Supported by Arby's consumer feedback from moms, as well as guidance from nutritionists, the new lower-sodium Arby's Kid's Meal comes standard with apple slices and yogurt dipping sauces; parents can request to replace this side offering with curly fries. Healthy beverage offerings include low-fat white milk, bottled water or Capri Sun® fruit juice, but parents can also substitute these choices with a soft drink.

Meal options include: a Jr. Turkey and Cheese Sandwich or Kraft® Macaroni & Cheese entree, apple & yogurt side and a healthy beverage choice. These meals will be earmarked for use by the Arby's Foundation, which has committed at least $1 million to the No Kid Hungry campaign.

Hala Moddelmog, president of Arby's restaurants and chair of the Arby's Foundation, says that the sandwich chain is focusing on the No Kid Hungry Campaign, which addresses the needs of the 16 million children that face hunger in America.
